Tonight's action started with a prayer for rain to hold off untill the racing was over.
Thunderstorms that were predicted never materialized as the night passed.
Regardless, 250 of the best fans in Maine showed up and enjoyed quite a show.
Newly added viewing areas and bleachers gave more fans a clearer shot at the action.
The first heat in the Stock class saw Dan Bowley pace the field to green. Steve Perry quickly moved up take
the lead in lap 3 with Dan settling in for second.
Green flag from start to finish and Steve Perry took the win followed by Dan Bowley and Mike Twist qualified
for his first main feature with his 3rd place finish.
Second heat action gets underway with Bruce Plouffe on the pole with Peter Petit on his outside. Petit stays
wide and uses the outside to race even with Pluffy.
Rick Grant slows his machine and retires to the pits with a broken throttle cable forcing him to go to the
B main feature.
The man on the move is Phil Bowley, using the outside groove he moves into 3rd and contacts Petit who had
gotten loose and spins him around.
After a brief caution, Phil, still on the outside, uses all of the track and then some, wild swaying sideways
he takes over the top spot and goes on to win followed by Peter Petit and Bruce Plouffe in second and third.
The third heat finds Scott Powers on the pole. At the green he pulls out in front and would stay there for
the remainder of the race. Vinnie Curro jumps into second and is unchallenged all the way to the checkered flag.
The real battle is for third, being held by Buster Bean, Patrick Perron works the outside groove for many
laps untill pulling forward and taking the final transfer spot from buster.
Modified heat was next. The #88 of Randy Philpot drew the pole and was hounded by #40 Norm Dakin for the
entire race. The 7x of Shawn Smith takes a nasty spill on the backstretch bringing out the caution. He is okay but out
of the race. The debut of #666 Kyle Casey results in third place in the heat.
The stock class B Main comes to the track with Shannon Wilkinson out front and Buster Bean to his outside.
At the green it's Shannon and Buster dogging it out for top spot while the #77 of Rick Grant moves from last to third. Rick
slips underneath Buster and tracks down Shannon. Outside of the #71, Rick goes wide and Buster fills the hole and takes over
2nd for a while. Rick slips back and regroups, slides inside of Buster for 2nd and dispatches Shannon on an inside crossover
move to take the top spot. At the checkers, it's Rick, Buster and Shannon moving on to the A main feature.
After a brief intermission the modifieds came out for their feature. Randy Philpot would start on the pole
and would not relenquish first place for the duration of the feature. Shawn Smith gets past the #666 of Kyle Casey to take
third spot as Randy and the #40 of Norm Dakin put on a show for first place. Again the #7x of Shawn Smith takes a tumble on
the backstretch and this time the mower sustains damage and exits the race early. Fortunately Shawn is fine after the crash.
Late in the race the #666 of Kyle Casey gets into the groove and begins to reel in the leaders, Randy and
Norm who are putting on one heck of a show. In the end he comes up short taking third place behind winner Randy Philpot and
runner up Norm Dakin who go to the wire duking it out for the win.
Stock class mowers are up for the final feature of the night. Mike Twist, who qualified for his first ever
main feature starts on the pole with Vinnie Curro and his #12 to his outside. At the drop of the green, Vinnie pulls out front
followed by Patrick Perron's #40. Steve Perry works up from his 5th starting spot into third.
Caution comes out for Buster Bean who loses a rear tire on the backstretch.
The ensuing green flag puts Vinnie back out front with Patrick in 2nd. Phil Bowley who stsrted 8th uses
the outside to get into third before pulling into the pits with some problems.
Along green flag and Vinnie Laps up to 5th place. A caution comes as the 2nd place driver Patrick Perron
does a superman impression off his mower in turn 3.
However he could not fly but is ok and continues the feature.
A long long caution flag while officals try to sort out who is where and line them up accordingly. Still
Vinnie leads with Rick Grant who started 10th, is up to 2nd and Scott Powers 3rd.
Green flag and Vinnie jumps into the lead, followed by Rick. As Vinnie gets into lapped traffic he gets
caught up in a spin and loses the lead to Rick. Rick goes on to win with Steve Perry fighting past Scott powers to take 2nd.
Scott settles for 3rd.
