Racing underneath threatening skies on Friday night, 250 fans were treated to an amazing show of dominance in
the modifieds and preseverence in the stock class mowers.
Starting the nights events were the stock class heats.Rick Grant the point leader going into the night was not
in attendence due to work issues. The Points battle would be tightened up by the end of the night.
Heat #1 went to Dan Bowley, Heat #2 was taken by Vinnie Curro and Heat #3 was won by Leo Belanger, who took his
first career win.
The modifieds were up next and Randy Philpot pulled away to take the win. Point leader Norm Dakin was forced
into the flagstand and busted an axle midway through the heat.
The B main in the stock class was won by Phil Bowley who gave a little audition of things to come later that
night.
First up for main features was the modifieds who took to the track for the national anthem. Randy Philpot took
the lead from lap 1 and never looked back, going wire to wire to take his 3rd feature this season.
Early pressure from Shawn Smith seemed like a 2 man race until a spin by Smith ended his bid for the win.
Norm Dakin had more problems from the earlier heat race fiasco and retired early in the race giving Randy Philpot
an oppurtunity to retake the point lead. Randy was sure up to the task as he went on to build up a lead of 1/2 lap on the
competition. Bruce Plouffe on his new Pluffybilt #5 finished second and Shawn Smith rebounded to 3rd.
Stock class action started with Dan Bowley bursting out to the lead, his John Deere looking lightning fast, however
it was short lived as a mechanical problem forced him to pull off the track. That opened the door for Phil Bowley who had
given that preview in the B main to take the lead.
Dukeing it out behind him were Joe Lovejoy on the #14, Scott Powers on the #00 and Steve Perry on the #24. A
spectacular crash by a barrel rolling Steve Perry, brought out the next caution. Bowley remains in front with Powers and new
driver Chad Binette on the #96 in 3rd.
After the caution Bowley pulls away and the racing for 2nd thru 5th gets intense. Lovejoy spins to the infield,
Perry charges from the back, Curro has touble and pulls off the track, mayhem ensued!
Bowley still in the lead, Powers 2nd, Perry back to third, absolutely thrilling to watch.
A late caution and the running order was Bowley, Powers, looking to gain big in Grant's absence, Perry, Binette,
Lovejoy in the top five. On the restsrt Powers got tangled up with 2 other mowers and retired for the night with a 9th place
finish, however he did take the point lead.
In the end no one touched Phil Bowley, who pulled away and won the feature. Perry raced back to 2nd at the end
of the night with Binette 3rd.
